1. Very limited and inaccurate research in part of y.ssanoha (not that I blame him, he doesn't seem able to read English, never mind French). 2. French trials were done with 1/3 load with overloaded powreplants, which inflated top speed. 3. Shimakaze's 40.9 knot result is also questionable (1/2 load of 2,894 tons at powerplant overload of 79,240 shp).
As a side note, Shimakaze's final trial run of 2/3 load (3,040 tons) at non-overload power (76,010 shp) resulted in 39.9 knots, so she was fast indeed.
