Everytime he does, he gets hassled by the fanbase saying he's a shit writer or that he's "Trolling the fanbase" so they don't take it as canon info anyway and refuse even his own word.

Forbidden Scrollery is a fair bit darker (that's my operant word here) than most of the Touhou games, that's what I'm basically getting at.

He might be referring to how Momiji is depicted as hating Aya and not her faithful servant like how most people interpret her before 12.5.

When MoF came out, we wouldn't know Momiji's relationship with Aya other than "they are both tengu". Momiji not liking Aya (or all the crow tengu if we follow Aya's own thoughts) was revealed later in DS by Hatate, but people already had their "Momiji is Aya's puppy" headcanon and felt a bit betrayed.

There's the whole issue of youkai eating humans (though it's vague as to whether most youkai still eat humans or not), and Forbidden Scrollery depicts youkai as dangerous and alien. Most of the fandom doesn't seem interested in exploring these elements, though there are artists like Zounose who definitely do.

Like I said, it's vague and the series keeps tiptoeing around the issue. It's implied in Wild and Horned Hermit that Yukari lets humans live in Gensokyo to serve as a steady food source for youkai, but as far as I know that hasn't been fully explored.

IIRC Yukari also implied that humans in the village aren't the only food source for human-eating youkai.

Then again, given that youkais only really need faith to stay alive, and given there's not much to eat on a human to begin with, that's probably just spooky scary tales to scare kids into eating their soup and not wandering outside at night.
And yeah, it's a no-contest that the humans that are actually eaten are outsiders. The human villagers are supposed to live afraid of the youkai, but the keyword there is "live". Reimu (and probably Yukari too) won't have much mercy for youkai that threaten Gensokyo's balance like that.
