IIRC, allegedly, Halsey transferred to New Jersey because his health was in bad shape and NJ had better medbay than that on Enterprise.

I remember reading that it was part of the encryption that someone believed was part of the message, it wasn't part of the intended message.

God knows Halsey did try to preserve E as a museum, but he didn't make it. CVN-65 Enterprise was born in 1959 and Halsey passed away in 1958... it's a sad love story, I know.
