The only reason why was because South Dakota's engineer was a moron that fuck up her wiring to the point where if one fuse tripped, say for the mess hull lights, it shut down everything. Radar, radio, guns, you name it it lost power.

As is Kirishima didnt do that much damage. Within a week SoDak was back and fighting. SoDak was hit with an AP shell that shatter against her armor doing nothing but a dent and a hole in the deck.
