Ironic statement, considering this is a story about the ones who literally can't die, and the ramifications of that fact.

Considering how nobly both Patchouli and Remilia die here, I am proud of the artist, and not sad for him or her.

There's some sort of meaning behind their deaths you know. It's not as if they died in vain or for the lolz. Otherwise why would Patchouli have a badass heroic moment? This ain't no guro doujin.

Still is, I believe: it's just that Remilia is bleeding copiously onto it. :(

This work is a little bit too grimdark for my tastes. I don't think the gruesome death bring anything of value to the story.

That's just the reality of space.
I would call it grimdark if someone else purposefully grind a youkai girl in a meat grinder alive for amusement or reminding us of ugly side of human psychology, but this is just a natural accident that soon will lead to a survival story of immortals in outer vast universe.
You don't see Hollywood movies with similar stories labeled as "gruesome".
