Any experienced admiral would instantly recognise that the battleship aimed for a destroyer, because that's what happens, especially if they have larger and more optimal targets to hit.

Going into night battle with kako at heavy damage? Did this happen before the anti-sinking rules were known?

It was 'sunk' before I changed it to 'destroyed', so understandable.

Is that, Ri, Wo and Chi in the second panel?

Sorry, that was a typo on my part. My hands are just weird these days. And as Paracite said, it was "sunk" before it was "destroyed" so I misread that Yamashiro was sunk so quickly.

uhh...no, until now, ship with heavy damage can still go into night battle without sinking
Heavy damaged ships only sink when you advance to the next nodes

Though I suppose this does give you some peace of mind now that you realized your girls have always been safe and sound despite how badly beaten up they appear to be.
