Yes, "drinking piss" really happened in the original. No, the taoists did not enjoy it, when they were told what it actually was.
Journey to the West actually had quite its share of toilet humour. It was also rather grisly when it comes to violence, i.e. what happened to the taoists in the end. We'll see how this artist choose to portray their ultimate fate soon enough.
Maybe piss is really delicious , have any of you guys ever drunk your own piss to check its taste yet ? I have not , lol . If you have Diabetes , maybe your piss will be really sweet .
