I guess I worded that bad, I meant more is it even possible for this series to not be a "yuri-fest" given what it is adapting. You'd have to start rewriting stuff for that to be possible.

As an actual girl who likes other girls, I can confidently say that "yuri" and "girls can just be friends" ain't mutually exclusive. Just because I like girls doesn't mean I can't have platonic friendships with other girls, yeah? Straight guys can have platonic relationships with girls, and the same goes for lesbians. In fact, my favorite kind of yuri story is the story that remembers this and has a mix of romantic and platonic relationships. Bonus points if there are guy characters around (it doesn't count if the guy is supposed to be a villain (like a romantic rival or a disapproving father or something), just guys to remind us that, hey, men exist).
