Actually, yes, the commentary says they are grapes. Specifically Kyohou grapes, which are similar to Concord grapes, apparently, but more to the point of this series, the kanji can also be read as "huge peak".

Also, her apron and the lanterns all have the character for "Ta" on them. (Usually, "rice paddy" or something like that, but it's likely just to make the first sound in "Tawawa.")

Is it me or are those grapes somewhat... too well-rounded?
There's definitely something in the water. It's even affecting the plants...

... Anyone else feel like the new episode seems to have skipped forward a lot in the development of Ai-chan and Mr. Salaryman's relationship? I mean, they "already have plans for tonight", and she wants to make up for not "attending" to him properly at the cafe... it almost sounds like she's planning to give him some personal "service" at his place.

It's because the placement of the lights. Japanese drinking places (izakaya), especially the open-air ones has custom of installing lights like that to 'cheer up the drinking atmosphere'. Since there's so many light sources, one just above her face will do enough to provide that kind of shadow.

The series is running on a fairly broad timescale. Ai is now back in her winter uniform, whereas two episodes ago she was talking about her summer holiday plans. Some time seems to have passe, is what I discern.

The last episode will probably feature the accidental phone call.

... Dammit, why did you have to remind me that this is just a 12-episode show? XD I hope it gets a full-fledged sequel.

Well, the Blu-ray release will have two extra episodes (one for Ai and one for Kouhai), so there's at least that to look forward to.
