Should such posts be allowed? I'm actually curious here, since this edit doesn't really hurt this image's quality and it's not like there aren't posts that are edited by a third party users, for example some scans (although that post is definitely no scan :3).

I'd say no, because post #2084551 exists. That name was part of the original and editting it out for personal preferences then allowing it on the site sets a bad precedent.

Also, I find making a 3rd party edit the parent and the original a child to be awkward.
