It's called soccer (or, well, "sakka" サッカー ) in Japan. AKA the place most of the artwork on this site comes from. It's also soccer in America, aka the place this show (RWBY) comes from. And the term wasn't invented in America, it was created in England as shorthand for "association," as in association football.

Oh, England. The one country who decided to name the ananas, pineapple. This the reason why Europeans call it football.

    Germans call it "Fußball".
    Frenchs call it "Football"
Italians call it "Calcio" (which also means "(foot) kick")
    Spanish call it "Fútbol".

And let's be honest: You play it with it the "foot" :v.

So I guess the odd one out is America (or Japan) here :P.

"Soccer" and derivatives thereof are quite common. Irish, for example, calls it "sacar". Why do English people always get so high-and-mighty about it?
