    Girls' Frontline - Normandy Ep.1

I love M1 Garand, she is my favorite rifle. Best rifle in World War 2, and she does deserve that title! Therefore I'll have my first stirp portraying her (as a blond tsundere as well, awesome).
Some of you probably guessed what the next strip will be about, I'll have it done later.

I thought the "ping" sound of the Garand clip being a dead giveaway was just a myth?

It's true that it's an obvious giveaway. Whether it ever actually influenced anything is questionable. But, the stories of soldiers throwing their empty clips at rocks to draw out enemies are entertaining.

Its a myth. For one, the distances involved and the noise of other gunfire is too loud to clearly hear the ping. Additionally no one fights alone. Sure one guy might be reloading, but there are at least 2 other guys in a fireteam also sending lead.

The concept remains today, where when you run dry you drop behind cover and yell "reloading" so your buddies know to control their cadence while you reload (and also to warn anyone firing over your head that you are going to be standing back up soon, but you will still look behind you an yell "up" before you do so)

There actually was talk of the military trying to replace the metal clips with ones made out of plastic (or some similar material) so it didn’t make that loud of a noise when it ejected or hit the ground. Never went anywhere because there was no evidence that the metal clip was endangering anyone with its *ping*, so it was dropped.

I don't think, that a soldier in battle repeatedly firing an MP40 is able to hear anything but the ringing in his ears. Guns are LOUD and Soldiers don't use earplugs. Gundolls may be another thing ...

The M1 Garand has a very distinct metallic clip ejecting sound. Some enemies chose to attack at precisely this moment, and caused some trouble for the Allied soldiers...
