...Is she pinching that part of the hand?

    Owwww.

Also, I'm pretty sure you're old enough by the standard of launch date.

Makes ya wonder who the real weirdos are in the Kancolle world. The Admirals who frequently mess around with young looking shipgirls OR the shipgirls who get all flirty (in Murakumo's case not so flirty) with Admirals who could easily be 1/3 of their real ages.

    ...
Not that I'm calling them old or anything.

Final Form Murakumo never really looked all that loli to me...maybe the moderate chest, but the hips, legs, and hair say otherwise.

I'm not sure how her hair tells you her age. (Unless you think it's white from old age...) When I was in elementary school, one of my classmates was a girl with knee-length hair.

Expect that they're not actually really old by any rational thinking.

Consider someone that is born in 1928 and then in 1942 falls into time warp and appears in 2017. Would you seriously let that kid go buy a bottle whiskey and a carton of cigs, hit the slots, and hire some prostitutes (assume he happens to live in Vegas) because they're "89"? That's basically what happened to the ship girls expect the time warp happened to take the form of being non-existent for decades on account of a serve case of death.

The 90 year old argument is even less valid with ship girls though because their body is brand new, there isn't even a physical continuity to try and make a chronological age argument. Even mental age doesn't help since many of the seemingly mature girls would technically be less then five by that measure. In reality you'd likely need to perform some sort of evaluation on them upon summoning in order to assign a rough mental age for matters of consent and rights.

The problem with THAT line of reasoning is that the original ships had WILDLY different lengths of service history. Takanami sank just THREE MONTHS after being commissioned, which would make her an infant, while Kamikaze (and especially Kongou) would be a middle-aged woman. Oh, and don't get me started on the museum ships or ships that were modernized and used after the war, like Iowa...

Obviously, apparent age is related to ship size. If we're going with the "they're all ship spirits" theory, then you could probably just say that the spirit of a ship is based upon the amount of crew (presuming that people generate whatever the spirits grow off of) or possibly just overall displacement (raw material that went into it). That would at least create a consistent basis of measurement.

In any event, "Lolicon" isn't really about the actual chronological age of a character. It's about what traits a person is attracted to. (The same as being attracted to a picture of a "girl", then getting told it's a trap doesn't make you gay.) If someone is only attracted to traits held by a child, then they're a lolicon even if that character is "actually a 500 year old vampire", and it's not pedophilia to be attracted to an gynoid that is "only 3 years old" if they look like an adult woman. (Although the moral repercussions of actually following through on that attraction are quite different.) It's just that KanColle fandom (like a lot of anime) turns a blind eye to a lot of that, and treats adult men hitting on apparent middle schoolers as commonplace.

A girl in my kindergarten class had a braid as thick as her neck down to her shins, but it's not incredibly common. At least when I grew up, most girls here had what we'd tag "short hair" since it made playing and sports in the unending sea wind less problematic with only a couple going past shoulder-length.

Uhh no that's not the problem, that's the POINT. I even directly mention that length of survival as a hull can't be used either in my post so why are you acting like you're making some counter argument here? You can't use length of service to determine age and you sure as hell can't use the hulls launching date because that's not even the same thing as the current girl. That would be like trying to base someones age off of how old their house is.

Hence my point that the only way to assign an age for consent purposes is a mental evaluation upon their return to determine their overall level of maturity. Playing it for laughs aside they're definitely not 80+ years old. That interpretation is just totally illogical which is my main point.

Obviously, apparent age is related to ship size.

Except when it totally isn't, which is reasonably often going by art and implied personality in various voice lines. I'd trust Shigure more with a bottle of liquor then I would Kongou for instance and Ashigara looks about a decade older then Taiho.

"A consistent basis for measurement"... You have like actually looked at the girls to know how silly a statement this is right?

    You lolicon.
So, you are a lech on top of an incorrigible flirt?
Then, will you take this hand back?
Why, whatever could you mean? In katakana, indicating robotic or monotone speech.
You're quite the impertinent one, aren't you? Don't you mean I am the ideal superior officer that every subordinate can ever hope for?
