    I'm pretty sure Kanna understands death by now. Now, it seems dragons can still offer the chance of immortality for humans (Eating dragon-flesh supposedly has this property, and tails grow back), and while Kobayashi seems to enjoy her limping around with a bad back, not all of us are so attached to this fleeting humanity.

    So, yes, Kanna understand what death is, she understood it probably way before even Kobayashi's birth. But it's probably a state of denial.

    In the other hand, no, dragons can't give immortality to humans, and can't do anything to stay with them longer. That's why Tooru is always surrounding Kobayashi, and why Iruru don't understand why Tooru stay with humans knowing she'll have to say goodbye way to soon.

    Why do we keep taking dogs or cats even through we'll outlive them?
    Because they're fucking cute and even if it's just for a moment, it's nice to have a reason to get out of bed in the morning and go outside.
