Absent without notice or late notice. That happens lots at my place.
Or they could have just used up all their time for paid leaves.

Legal minimum in Japan is 10 working days a year (down from 20 a few years ago); though with all the public holidays and work-holidays (like during New Years) gives you more. Given the (stereotypical) penchant for Italians to take long holidays, they could burn through that easily.

People here often use an hour or two to go and do stuff that can only be done in working hours - like banking or going to the dentist/doctor for non-emergency stuff. If they're turning up late, or leaving early, they'll lose that time off from their paid leave.

Using Fritz X to intimidate em is just too low, Bismarck.

Notice that from the strip linked above to when they get found it takes about 17 strips, or a month in real time, for them to get apprehended. They've used up all their vacation time for the year by that point. And it was barely two months ago.

So yes, Bismarck is more than a little put out. In the last seven months, they've tried to go on vacation twice, and used one month out of seven for their first vacation.

Littorio was not slightly damaged,she got severely damaged. Roma was sunk because the bomb made the forward magazines go "boom!!!". Warspite was nearly sunk (lost a turret and half her engines) for the same reason.
