It's funny how all these KanColle like games do such a great job adding in the USS ships among others. Meanwhile Kancolle is over there having jack shit, as there should be way more USS ships in Kancolle by now. How do you make a game about ship girls that mostly fought in WWII yet have only 3 god damn American ships? How pathetic, especially since it's been years now. Kancolle has got some kinda Anti American vibes that luckily games like Azure Lane don't have. South Dakota look damn good btw, I can see why the Japanese are flooding to this game.

That kind of complain is only warranted if Kancolle was set to international release, which it still isn't to this day. It's like complaining to Chinese restaurant for not serving American cuisines.

Pretty much this. Kancolle's main target audience has been and will probably ALWAYS be the Japanese audience. The Japanese want to see more Japanese ships, not foreign ships. and while Kadokawa has acknowledge that they have a foreigner fanbase. They still have NO PLANS to do a local translation of Kancolle.

There always has to be this person who bitch about everything, like every YouTube video there isn't a woman, transgender or homosexual to show some kind of forced equality. Western World War II games don't include that much Japanese ships either and their anti Russian/German is a tired argument too. This isn't about "fulfilling American egos" that makes Azure Lane popular, if that where true Warship Girls would be a tremendous hit by now. It's because the gameplay is different and unlike the Chinese ripoff this one has an official Japanese localization/server. How many American KanColle servers do you know?

It feels like there is an inconsistent depiction and dramatization of the gameplay - even tongue in cheek assessment seems low. Touhou art, just as a reference point, likes to discuss spell cards, grazing, and bombing. Fate/Grand Order, for an alternate mobile franchise comparison, does a fair job dipping into its mechanics. Kancolle has a lot of it, even early on, art that depicts the interface, mechanics, and we can even make a pool for abstracted "on sortie" bits. in fact, these three references also have a lot of historical discussion to go along with them.

Shipgirl alternate games seem to be coming up short in these departments. Azur Lane, if I may scan the gallery we have uploaded here, has a lot of eyecandy. I wonder if, had Azur Lane had come first, our discussions would have branched into the same WII history direction as happened with Kancolle, at least. I know I am only using the subset of images and conversations that reach Danbooru as a reference and that may lead to incorrect observations.

I'm just happy we get another dark-skinned shipgirl, who are a rare breed.

Kancolle already has every Japanese BB, CA and CL that saw service in the WW2 era, and all all the CVs except Shinano. I'm not sure how many IJN DDs are left, but most are already in the game. Hence Kancolle is already scraping the bottom of the barrel by adding coast defense ships.

Edit: Looked it up, there's 26 IJN DDs left to implement in Kancolle out of the already-introduced classes (4 Kamikaze-class, 1 Mutsuki-class, 3 Fubuki-class, 2 Ayanami-class, 2 Hatsuharu-class, 2 Asashio-class, 2 Kagerou-class, 9 Akizuki-class). Though I suppose the 15 Minekaze-class and 8 Wakatake-class could also happen since they remained in service as DDs during WW2. The 9 Momi-class that survived into WW2 were converted to patrol boats so they'd almost certainly be rated as DEs for Kancolle purposes. The Matsu and Tachibana classes (18 and 14 ships)...might also be counted as DDs rather than DEs since Samuel B. Roberts is. So that'd be potentially 81 DDs. I guess they're not running quite as low on IJN ships as I thought.

For CLVs, there's Yawata Maru/Un'you and Nitta Maru/Chuuyou (Kasuga Maru's sisters) plus the additional escort carriers Kaiyou and Shin'you, Shimane Maru and Ootakisan Maru. Plus possibly Ibuki as a CA that refits into a CVL, since Graf Zeppelin and Aquila show that Kancolle will include partially-built ships. There's also the IJA CVE/landing ships Nigitsu Maru (Akitsu Maru's sister), Yamashio Maru, Chigusa Maru and Kumano Maru. So possibly 11 more Japanese CVLs.

For training cruisers there's Kashii and possibly the ex-armoured cruiser Yakumo.

So for non-DD content the pickings are quite slim without bringing in more foreign shipgirls.

I actually know a few people who would do that.

Except most Mom and Pop Chinese restuarants, at least in the US, tend to serve french fries and friend chicken, and one of the most popular chain "Chinese" restaurants, P.F. Chang's, serves heavily Americanized versions of Chinese food. I mean, the entire notion of "Beef and Broccoli" is basically an American cuisine made Chinese-ish.

Waaaaay late reply, but I guess I sucked at getting my point across. I guess I should've used "going to yakisoba shop expecting them to serve spaghetti" or something, but eh...

Just to clarify, pandering to different mouths is nice gesture and all (I guess in US especially), but if a handful of Chinese restaurants decided to stick with Chinese food only to pander to Chinese immigrants, tourists or descendants who miss their homeland, they should never be blamed for not serving American cuisines as long they don't refuse to serve Americans who expect to find Chinese food to begin with.
