  • Battletech - Draconis Combine Sunder

Here's a big piece that was commissioned by mr-balk ~mr-balk. It's been fun do do more than single mech paintings, and I have more coming up.

A Kuritan Sunder, 90 ton assault mech of the 10th Ghost Regiment is pushing into a position held by Blake 52nd Shadow Division infantry. This customized Sunder, nicknamed Samual, is loaded out with almost every anti infantry weapon in the book, terrifying even to these Blake cyborgs. A Malak light mech is rushing the Sunder in ambush but being in it's Dominus configuration is also carrying mostly anti infantry weapons, adding it's previously sustained damage it probably wont fair well.

    Sunder Samual weapons:
1 Extended Range Particle Projector Cannon
6 Short Range Missile 4 Launchers (inferno ammo)
    4 Flame Throwers
12 Machine Guns (in paired arrays)
    2 A-Pods

Using ppc on infantry, and a direct hit too. It's so overkill. xD

In the basic (Battletech) game rules, weapons like the PPC don't deal damage to infantry, they kill a number of infantry equal to their damage per shot. The (otherwise virtually useless except on extreme gimmick vehicles) machine guns get a damage bonus that mean a good roll can wipe out whole platoons in a single attack. Merely killing one infantry firing what's the functional equivalent of a tank's main cannon is a horribly botched shot by Battletech standards.

Those infantry are Blakist force, hence they likely to be religious fanatics and likely to have cybernetic enhancement, so using heavy firepower is best way to ensure these zombies are down for good.

Thats the rules in the earlier editions. In current edition a PPC can at most kill two infantry troopers (and thats if the infantry are standing in an open field).

Direct Fire Energy Weapon, dealing 10 damage. 10/10 = 1. 1 Trooper killed, multiplied by two for in the open.

NWSiaCB, when you're dealing with Word of Blake infantry, always hit them with everything on your mech and stomp the bodies for good measure. Towards the latter stages of the Jihad those cybernetic enhancements became so advanced that some of the things they fielded were only one step removed from being T-800 series Terminators.

That PPC shot guaranteed that that Blakist freak stayed down for good.
