Oh man, I was waiting a long time to finally post this. This is my 210th color commission. Another milestone, another LAMA related gear but this time I got somthing special. A while ago we saw a Love Live character (Nico Yazama) wearing LAMA gear and now here's the next step as now this picture is featuring characters from Love Live Sunshine in LAMA gear. We got (going Left to Right) You Watanabe, Ruby Kurosawa and Kanan Matsunna exploring the aquarium...where do I begin!
Well...story. Ruby was curious about the underwater world and as two of her friends Kanan and You...*points to yourself*...Not you, You! Anyways asked them about what the underwater world is like. Kanan and You actually had a hard time answering the question as it's one of those questions that doesn't have a straight answer. So then they decided to invite Ruby to a diving session and Ruby while unsure at first agrees to join them. Later on Kanan and You figures out how to do it so that Ruby could understand how they feel about the underwater world and while they could use the regular diving gear at Kanan's shop, they figured there has to be a better gear they could use for this one time. Then they figured that the LAMA bubble helmet gear would work prefectly for this sitution. It's a bit bulky but the 360 degree view would help Ruby's first diving expierence to be better than usaul.
So the plan was set...however there is a problem, they can't dive together in the ocean as Ruby would need a license to be able to do that (plus being an open water for a first time diver wasn't the best idea). So they thought of some closed water places. They suggested a pool but that wouldn't allow Ruby to get the true underwater experience. Then You figured oh right, the Aquarium as it's a close space and has plenty of undersea life in them. Kanan agrees and they contacted the aquarium for permission to go giving in them. Then the day arrived as Kanan, Ruby, and You put on their LAMA gear and dived under. At first Ruby had a hard time swimming due to the gear but Kanan and You assist her a bit and Ruby was able to adjust really quickly but Kanan holds onto her just in case she losses balance. So the three explored the Aquarium as Kanan tallks a bit about diving lessons and other stuff but it seems that Ruby was too distracted by the wonders of being underwater as Kanan stops her lectures for a bit and shows a smile happy for Ruby. You who was behind the two of them is also happy for Ruby as she seems to finally experience the underwater world that Kanan and You have been through before.
Oh man talk about a massive picture. I actually was involved in the eariler parts of the picture as seeing how with a series as big as Love Live Sunshine, I worked with serveral people just to be sure that the final producted come out not only fantastic but as close to the original as possible and you can see the results for yourself as all three are wearing the same wetsuits as from the show and as an added bonus, Kanan's and You's symbols on their wetsuits are on the top weights as well which is a nice touch. There is only one major change to the wetsuit due to the commissioners requests is to have the legs on the wetsuit to cover up their feet so that their skin won't be touching the water at all...hopefully you guys are okay with that Sweating a little...
But now I know you are wondering "Wait, Ruby didn't have a wetsuit in the show" And you know what...you are half right. Basically there was a Love Live Sunshine mobile game that came out just a few months ago and in one scene you could see a couple of characters from the Aqours group wearing wetsuits and Ruby was one of them showing off her wetsuit for the first time as you can see here

Although only part of the wetsuit was revealed as it doesn't show the legs so Shoxxe did some creative liberties to come up with something for that part...so if a full version comes out, please don't hurt us Sweating a little...
Now...Coloring...this was a nightmare to color but all of the right reasons. Nothing too special about the background as it's something you seen before in other pictures but hey it's the first time I actually have a proper background for once Sweating a little...
Coloring the three girls are nothing too special but because I have a policy to match the original coloring style as I can there were two things to point out which one of them is chest shading. In the show they have a unique why of how they shade the chest area so after looking at some examples I tried my best to replicate it and...it came out a lot better than I thought it would. Way better than how I usually color that area. The second thing is their hair as rather than a back color and other effects, their base hair color has a gradiant to it which was a nightmare to figure out how to do this while applying shading and lighting. Good thing I found a way Sweating a little...
Last thing to not, similar to a previous picture, I wanted to color this as close to the original but I'm only limited to what line art I get in the end and the faces didn't match up too well. I tried looking for a good reference so that I could redo the face but surprisingly I didn't have too much luck on that. So desprate, I asked for someone's help to see if he could redraw the faces and yep, quick as a fly he was able to do very quickly and I'm grateful for that so thank you very much.
That's all I have...and at the same time all the pictures that I have in my stash. So minor break before the next picture but hey, this was a great picture to end it on for now :D (Big Grin)
