I got a bad anatomy tag, but the "bad anatomy" tag is on 7000 approved images in Danbooru, so it really is the moderation queue that has the final say.

Probably why other users don't care to weigh in. I'm lucky if a curated and highly upvoted image gets a positive remark.

Why I picked it was the pixiv reaction since the image was released July 15th:
3,760 Likes 4,949 Bookmarks 50,000 views. So perhaps there is a "hotness" factor that goes beyond anatomy. Worth a try.

So now what remains is to see what the queue decides.

There are plenty of highly upvoted images in the "curated" pool that don't get past the moderation queue, and well-liked and remarked-upon images (or more to the point, pages in a series) that have maybe one vote for them. The whole curated pool is a farce, and image voting largely only impacts an "popularity" algorithm that I don't understand why anyone would ever use when tag searches are so much more likely to bring you to something you'll actually like.

Practically any image of a naked lady is going to get more upvotes than most other posts (while at the same time not getting discussed at all because they're often just naked ladies, and not something that sparks discussion), but that isn't a good indicator of whether something will be approved or not. It's worth noting that, while Danbooru may have a lot of porn, about 80% of its approved images are rated 'safe' (although Danbooru's standards for 'safe' are certainly particular to it). You'll do better ignoring things like upvotes and just focusing upon what uploads pass the queue and what doesn't to understand what will pass.

Also, as of right now, there are 4 "poor quality" votes, which is a pretty strong indicator that even if one janitor approved it, it's likely another janitor would disapprove strongly enough to immediately flag it.

Upvotes are a bit like applause to me, although I at least will try to understand what the curators look for. After I submit something for moderation, then I go on to other prospects for uploading. One thing I try to keep in mind, Danbooru is a privately run board and those in charge decide what they want it to be.

The janitors, especially in the last few years as more have been recruited sometimes literally at random, is less a unified front and more a mob that grudgingly learns to coexist because actively antagonizing each other is more tiresome than it's worth. Things one janitor posts getting flagged by another janitor is the only real check on the system.

In general, though, anatomy issues are the one thing where there has been some contention that flags tend to be upheld. (Quality being another, but that's always going to have a large, nebulous gray area.) Thanks to a few janitors really pushing it with flags for the past couple years, anatomy is being observed more strictly than it has been in the past.

You can get away with more bad anatomy if it's something like a gag image than if it's a "pure art"/porn piece, as people will approve a joke based on the joke being funny, provided the art isn't hideous, but for a porn piece, it's generally held to much stricter scrutiny since there's no other justification for it, and, well, if there's already tons of porn on Danbooru, there's no reason not to be more selective and make sure it's only the best porn. That is, fundamentally, what Danbooru tries to set itself apart from something like DeviantArt upon.

And that kind of QC + User filtering is highly appreciated here even if some of my submissions are voted out.

DeviantArt is a eyebleach fetish festival. I can't stand to browse it sometimes. I'll only go if it's a known artist's page or a fairly safe search term.
