    You mean like the submarine raid on Tawi-Tawi?

    Japanese explanation: "We must have been attacked by 20, 30, no... 50 American subs. We were lucky to get out of there without any capital ships sunk!"

    Yeah, I wasn't sure exactly what the T-shirt is referencing, but decided to go with Taihou's direct connection to Tawi-Tawi as a reference. The Wikipedia article that talks about the submarine raid is just USS Harder (SS-257)'s own page.

    But then again, the Submarine Raid on Tawi-Tawi (or Harder's killing spree, whichever you prefer) does kind of tie into the Battle of the Philippine Sea since when the former happened, Tawi-Tawi was being used as a staging point for the latter, and Harder "forced" the Japanese Task Force (Taihou included) to leave ahead of schedule.
