I know this is in the "Heart-Breaking" pool but there's something so over-the-top melodramatic about it that it wrapped around to the other side; I find it weirdly hilarious rather than tragic. I just look at Springfield's evil smile in the last panel and start chuckling for some reason.
This isn't really that bad though, as far as we know Wa2k didn't say who was the lucky guy, and Springfield doesn't necessarily knows Wa2k meant it for the commander.

I mean, we are in the middle of an apocalyptic wasteland where you and your companions are female robots and the only organic living human man you are in contact with aside from your superiors who only show up as holograms is the field commander...
I think it's safe to say what Springfield's intentions were.
