As for the comic, if you have mentholated cream on your skin, adding water will enhance the burning/cooling sensation. Taking a hot bath is... uh... pretty much one of the worst things you can do. (which is why a lot of such products have warnings mentioning not to apply them within 30-90mins before or after taking a bath)

Apparently, in pre-colonial Central America, chilis on the genitals were used for punishment.

Incidentally, for stuff like Icy Hot, the active ingredient is mint oil. A new world will open up to you if you put it anywhere near your ass or genitals.
