    There are gun-like objects in the persona series called "Evokers" which are used to summon a Persona by firing it at your head or something. Snake tried this with a regular gun here, but it didn't seem to have the desired effect.

    Evokers are gun shaped devices that use "plums of dusk" that simulate the mental trauma of near death to brute force a persona's manifestation. Unlike most of the series Persona 3 is the only one where the users don't form contracts with their personas, which is why for some of them their personas go berserk.

    Should also be noted it doesn't have to be a Gun shaped necessarily. What matters is the emotions of the person using it. Aigis, Metis and Koromaru dont use a Gun shaped Evoker and during the story, Mitsuru even mentions that her and Akihiko are top tier Fighters that they technically don't need it anymore. It's just a catylst for their abilities to make it easier.

    This is further talked about on in Persona 4 Arena and Ultimax as well.

    A gun just happens to be a nice shape to use to induce the neccessary emotions to easily bring out your Persona.

    well, three of them are robots so the evoker is built in and one is a dog so it can't hold a gun.
