I fucking gave up trying to figure out some of the actual Chinese hanzi sound transcriptions because they don't match with the actual names. There's also some factual errors like Indra being called the Buddha and "the Greatest and Most Peaceful Place in Buddha's War" being inserted into the list of Bangkok's epithets, which I can't figure out how to fit in because it doesn't match up with the Thai/Pali/Sanskrit words no matter how I twist it, so I just dropped that part.

I gather y.ssanoha probably consulted some sort of unreliable almanac or facts book.

    From Baidu page under 文化-地名由来

BTW Wikipedia CN gives different meaning (which sounds more reasonable)

Well, Thai people Buddhists consider the Buddha to be the ninth reincarnation of Indra. And what with the majority of the governing powers inheriting a lot of Hindu-Buddhist influences, it's bound to happen.

And Bangkok's name is so long, we actually turned it into a song just to remember it! (By a rock band, even.)

....which reminds me, I need to deliver a dozen pallets of hexanitrohexaazaisowurtzitane from Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch to Bath, but my regular driver is ill with pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis.

Of course it's Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina! 11 letters in total! Sort of falls flat in English, but it takes up 7 Chinese characters.
Mhm, that's what foreigners call it.
Which national capital has the longest name?
Bangkok's actual name is Krungthepmahanakhon Amonrattanakosin Mahintharayutthaya Mahadilokphop Noppharatratchathaniburirom Udomratchaniwetmahasathan Amonphimanawatansathit Sakkathattiyawitsanukamprasit (176 letters in total) It means the City of Angels, the Great City, Indra's Jewel, the Impregnable City of Indra, the Grand Capital of the Nine Gems, Full of Grand Royal Palaces, Home of Gods and Erected by Vishvakarman at Indra's behest...
Thailand's capital is called Bangkok, right...
What!? It's longer than my full name!
    Just call it Bangkok.
Full name of Buenos Aires: Puerto de Nuestra Señora Santa María del Buen Ayre
