Took my dear sweet time with this one, but I got around to getting back on the wagon and finishing up another commission. Here we have a second, way out of left field crossover image ordered up by none other than Gunflame345

This time he had me tackle two more swordsman known for their oversized slabs of steel, Nightmare of Soul Caliber fame, and Gutz, a character from the Berzerk series.

Having main’d big bad Nightmare from my Soul Caliber days (Long Live the Dreamcast Yo!) I was pretty familiar with the in’s and outs of the guy despite never actually sitting down to draw him. His blue armor and monster arm are almost as iconic as the nasty blade he likes to swing around. Soul Edge is no joke, and even for a works commission I had to pour quite a bit into the design for that sword.

Gutz, considering I’ve never even heard of the guy or the series he comes from until GF asked me to draw him, actually came out pretty good too. I swear all the artists who work with the guy have a different way of drawing him, but I kinda hedged the median and came up with this look. I was winging it from the details, but I got the long duster and the body armor as close to the source material as I could.

My favorite thing about this one is the background. I’ve got the picture cut in twain, right where the two collided seconds before. Pretty cool. I love doing PNG stuff. Really fun.

Who won this little standoff? Who knows, that’s for you to decide. As for me, I’m just gonna sit here, crack my ‘nuckles, and reiterate that I can draw any character.
