Artist's commentary
[pokemon] gen 8 starters gijinka
[original idea]
which starter are you going to pick? i wanted to draw each girl in a suggestive scene.
[the process]
i knew i wanted to draw sobble covering her face. halfway through, i decided to have scorbunny hold the double peace (because the v-sign it looks like her ears). however, it took me a long time to decide what to do with the hands for grookey. originally, the hands were out of scene. i eventually decided to have her do a hand bra.
grookey was originally supposed to wear her glasses normally, but i didn't like the skecths of that (she looked very old). i thought of having this design as face-paint or someting, but i stuck with the glasses and pushed them up.
scrobunny was going to have an orange collar. however, i felt that this would stick out compared to the others so i removed it.
sobble's hair things was the hardest to come up with a design. originally, i thought to just make her have a ribbon to symbolize this design. i think this final design turned out well, though.
another interesting thing about sobble was that the initial plan was for her to be shy. however, the steches made her look menacing and look like a yandere. the final one landed in between somewhere. oh well.
