    They did in Halo, but for reasons I don't know, this feature has not appeared in any other game.

    It does dissipate once the charge runs out, so maybe the aliens in halo had some type of system to kill the energy sword upon death of the user, but I think its just gameplay.

    Also thats not a lot of blood for a shot to the head.
