well, you could easily kill someone with a box cutter.
A box cutter doesn't only open boxes, you know. :P

Or you could, you know, cut paper with them.

It's anything but easy. Boxcutters have very fragile blades that weren't designed for stabbing people. They are, however, wonderfully handy tools to have around.

Is it true that the 9/11 hijackers brought down the planes with them?

Nevada-tan seemed to manage. Not that you couldn't net a few frags with a sharp pair of scissors. I prefer to carry scissors myself, but I can see the benefit in form factor and versatility.
As I understand it, these knives are reasonably common in Japanese schools, though they have pretty strict knife laws in general.

You can threaten people with many things. That doesn't mean it's easy to kill with a boxcutter. It's optimised for something very different, if you really wanted to have a knife for cutting people up, there are way better options. Not to mention that I could beat you to death with a school chair, does that prove anything?

    Japan isn't like America.
I've read that women can easily walk alone at night and not be in danger.

So judging from the difference in crime rate of Japan to America, I think parents could trust their kids with boxcutters.

    (lol at ecology book)

That's because Japan has ninjas. They make criminals think twice.
