Well, you can wait till a real fan of yours post your work here and see if the approvers like it, or try else where. DeviantArt, for starters.

Real talk, if someone else did actually want to upload this again after it failed for being a self-upload, wouldn't that post get flagged for being a duplicate (of a deleted post)?

I would assume so, which I've always assumed is another reason for artists to not self-upload.

Danbooru's policy has long been that we do not flag posts for being duplicates. The post flagging screen makes it abundantly clear that this isn't a valid flag reason.

That said, if an post doesn't get approved by the mods, any re-uploads are even less likely to be approved, and people who try repeatedly uploading the same thing (usually with minor edits to bypass the MD5 checker) tend to get banned.
