I've never been a bigger proponent of a relationship between two characters than with these two. They're so cute together. My head will fucking explode if I ever see them kiss.

I so fucking hate people misinerpreting things as a relationship. Case in point with these two girls here. Maybe it pisses me off because I'm exactly like Rita. There's no relationship there. Rita is just secretly lonely as shit and just opens up to the only person who's showed an outward care for her. Why cant some things remain effing sacred?

More to the point, if you play the game and take the time to watch the skits, you'll see that Rita likes just about everybody in the party the same. She's an isolated girl who seeks, in her own way, to connect with others and stop being lonely.
Estelle just happens to be the only one who is so open and friendly (again, to everyone, not just Rita). Thus, Rita simply gets more dialogue with Estelle than with the others. They act like sisters, to put it in simple terms.

tl;dr version: Their relationship is only yuri to the yuri fans, who are not looking at the whole picture.

I think we Yuri fans are allowed to see yuri anywhere two females are within five meters of each other, actually.

Sure you are. Go right ahead.
But it doesn't change the fact that it's still retarded fanboy/fangirl behavior.

"Retarded fanboy/fangirl" coming from the person decrying others for not seeing the relationship between fictional characters in a way THEY agree with?

VGK should stop being so butthurt too. You're not like Rita. Rita is cool.

Yes. Because I actually have reasoning behind my opinions. The most reasoning I've seen for the Estelle/Rita yuri coupling is "They get so much screen/skit time together!" and "They're so cute together!"

This is a trend I've seen for a long time amongst vocal yuri fanboys/girls. Two girls are in a show/game/manga/whatever, they have some kind of affection for one another, it's automatically assumed they're either in love, or "should be". Nevermind the fact that the human element is deeper than just "loves, hates, or doesn't care".

The creators of Tales of Vesperia quite clearly put lots of effort into creating the group dynamic that makes the characters' interactions so great. Retarded shippers reduce it to the lowest possible form, and claim it's actual series canon. It's idiotic and it disrespects the creators.

Unless he was referring to the 'lonely' part of his comment...

For me Rita personality was something I had to get used to, but after an while that's when my love for her grew.

    Quoting VGK here..
'Why cant some things remain effing sacred?'

These two french-kissing feeling each other up and what not is like finding out that the milk that you tasted is rotten and spoiled, in my perspective it's wrong and doesn't belong..

By sgc's logic no pairings in Vesperia would make sense.

And as far as any Tales game goes Ristelle makes the most sense given what you have from the game itself. Unlike say pairs in Abyss (Tear/Natalia anyone?) or Symphonia (Mostly Sheena/Raine for whatever reason).

Not too mention the game almost seems to tease you with it considering I didn't make up the name Ristelle, that's the name Yuri gives to Rita and Estelle.

Or I guess in a tl;dr version that is less rambling.

If you don't like Ristelle then shut your damn mouth. No need to go flaming people about them interpreting things in a different viewpoint then you. You don't see romance? That's fine. Someone sees romance? That's fine.

    Just respect people's opinions.

    On an offtopic note:
Yes. If I saw a good picture of Rita and Estelle kissing I think I would faint from sheer joy.

What I hate is that guys who like yuri think that girls who like yaoi are "weird". It's pure sexist hypocrisy.

    You begin to understand, Grasshopper.

Not too mention the game almost seems to tease you with it considering I didn't make up the name Ristelle, that's the name Yuri gives to Rita and Estelle.

And you didn't catch that it pretty much puts them on the level of a manzai comedy duo, not a les pair. Estelle is the naive boke, Rita the uptight tsukkomi.

    Just respect people's opinions.

I've had this arguement before, against stronger opponents. Short response:
I respect others' right to have their own opinions. Opinions hold no weight and can be neither right nor wrong. However, an opinion that is founded on insufficient information holds within it less inherent value than one with a firmer basis in fact. Should the facts contradict the basis on which you form an opinions, you are obliged to change that opinion, or else it deserves to be dismissed from consideration.

Vesperia has no official pairing, the creators clearly intended it that way, and you should enjoy it for what it IS rather than what you WISH it would be.

tl;dr - the only yuri in the main Vesperia cast goes by the last name Lowell.

Rita and Estelle have the most screentime actually together in the game, and in skits. Yes, Rita likes everyone. But honestly she probably likes Estelle the most.

I like the thought of the two together not just because I wish for it, but because I think it would actually work and they're cute to each other in the game.

Only on the surface is that a good explanation. In truth, Estelle is simply the most friendly and likable cast member, so it's only natural that she and Rita would hit it off in such a friendly fashion.

Rita would have had just as much interaction with the others except:
    1) Yuri enjoys teasing Rita
    2) She sees Karol as an annoying little kid
    3) Raven is a pervy old man
    4) Judith is aloof, and teases everyone
    5) Repede... is Repede.

Estelle and Rita hit it off mostly as a comedy duo, really. The only 'ship that works for them is 'friendship', maybe 'sistership' at times.

Whine whine I disagree with a perfectly valid pairing because I'm a weenie.

There are no canon pairings, and I am okay with that. That means that the fans can do whatever they want.

Your truth is not the only truth, even if it might be a good one.

In my honest opinion... I believe the series leaves the interpretation of relationships open. At least compared to Tales of The Abyss where Luke and Tear was basically canon. Same with Natalia and Asch.

This game never reveals anything about what kind of relationship Alexei and Schwann may have had. This game never reveals Sodia's 'true' feelings for Flynn or how he may feel back. (In my honest opinion, I'd ship the couple.) This game never suggests that it is against Flynn x Yuri and it also doesn't try to suggest it is against Estelle x Rita.

This is similar to Fire Emblem. No matter how hard you play the game, Ike's sexuality remains a mystery. Whether he is gay, bi, or straight is up to the player.

"Not against" does not mean "supports". If you can play the games without trying to squeeze two (or more) characters into a pairing that wasn't clearly shown, you'll see more of the characters' true colors.

Maybe I do get a bit zealous about it, but I consider shipping (of any kind, really) to be one of the lowest forms of fandom. Yuri and yaoi fans just tend to be the most annoying about it.

Yes, but just because a game doesn't support a relationship doesn't mean fans aren't allowed to. You say it is just yuri and yaoi fanboys, but what if I thought Judith x Yuri could be a pairing? Sure, the game doesn't imply anything between the two like it may do with other characters, such as Nan and Karol, but the game also doesn't have any objection to Judith x Yuri as well.

You may call it a 'forced' or 'squeezed' paring and with Yuri x Judith being the example, I could understand why you might say that... However, it's as I've said before. I believe the game, considering it's already loose ending, is open to fan interpretation.
