Our own summary of Hayashimo says she's a gloomy and fatalistic kid and she was initially portrayed with creepy stalkerish tendencies, but more and more I get the feeling those aspects of her have been thrown out the window by fans.
At most she gets depicted as sultry, but more often than not I see her portrayed as just girly. More Sawako than Sadako at this point.

Hayashimo's stalker-ish part I always think more of flanderization of her character than her canon self. I think that she's just extremely perceptive to what Admiral needs, but has never been implied to go overboard like stalking the Admiral outside her secretary duty (at least not without her other dozen sisters noticing). Her gloominess is sprinkled here and there, with somewhat meta-awareness that her existence as kanmusu is akin to a ghost of the past, but even then she still tries her best to be pleasant company to the Admiral than ruining their day by being negative all day long.

I guess playing up her appearance is easier, because that alone already makes her quite attractive.
