    Back in the 1970s, as history shows, young feminists, and some older feminists, in America and Western Europe, wore these ridiculous garments --- best suited to plumbers --- dungarees/overalls/coveralls in order to deny societally based femininity as a uniform to avoid being stereotyped.

    Known as 'Andy Pandys', from a British TV puppet of the 1950s, whom they modelled themselves on after watching it when they were tiny tots.

    Coverall is the American term; overall the British. Full ones without shoulder straps are better called Boilersuits [ and are more respected ].
