    The vessels have inherited the experience of when the first person was turned into a Serval a long time ago, so they aren't acting under the king's orders when they capture a person and feed them to it. Like how things get passed on in monkey cages at the zoo from previous generations, this is some sort of strange, local game that is inherited. An odd game like poking an acorn with a stick that's inherited.

    The Serval-chan-likes that regain their intelligence randomly have the memories of other people who were eaten mixed in. Or something like that.

    So at last we have an "old one" tier abomination. Can't even say for sure it's a cult. They could all just be Serval-shaped golems shackled to their mother's will. Its not clear whether their chittering is some form of religious cry, a secret language, or if they are truly animals in mind.

    This is funny because of the dark premise, the cute designs of the cultists and god, the the disposable nature of stalkers.

    The little Servals are pretty mindless as long as they are near their god. They regain intelligence as they leave the influence of their god, but are filled with the desire to return home(savanna or minmi god).

    No, it was already explained that the price for granting the wish is losing your desire for the wish. Serval forgot all about the Savannah and her desire to return there after the room granted her wish, so she left.
