They're being useful in the base, that's better than being abandoned and forgotten in a deposit. Fighting and being in the front lines isn't the only way to win a war. Also, I like the fact that you can choose who uses the dorms and swap between operators.

Fang is quite reliable in a pinch. I have two other vanguards that are five star so having fang (who is the cheapest op in my main squad) really comes in clutch. She makes for a great starter during the beginning when things are relatively slow, not to mention her skill.
My friend, from China, was the person who had introduced me to Arknights. And I recall feeling frustrated with how the operators would get fatigued from working on base. Of course, because I had just started, I only had one dormitory. But it still felt like a massive CHORE to place operators in and out of the dormitory. So I told my friend how I was sick and tired of it. “Everyone works in the factory. None of you get paid. I don’t care if you’re tired, I don’t care if you’re red. You work”
