It's all that and a bag of chips, but the mecha references are mostly secondary as far as attacks go. Most of the techniques are based off of attacks used in the TM games, like Shiki's Seventeen Dissection or Archer's Unlimited Blade Works. It's when they have to fill in the blanks a bit that the mecha references tend to come out, like Sacchin using the Bakunetsu God Finger from G Gundam.
