    Sometimes, some artists should learn their maths a bit... the coma is ALWAYS on the THOUSANDS (should be 51,000). Or he's using French-like coma and it should means that's it's only 5.1 yens, a bargain :}

    Actually Japanese people split the digits in group of four.
    Your `ALWAYS' is plain wrong.

    Am I the only one that thinks it strange that a working woman can't afford a pet for Flanchan while an idle shrinemaiden and a NEET can?

    If she was being paid to work, then yes.

    I don't think a yukkuri would be durable enough for Flan. It wouldn't last five seconds.

    Alice isn't exactly a NEET, she's a dollmaker. I'm sure she manages to pull in alot of money in conventions and such, and blows them all on stuff like this. Just like how real-life otaku somehow buy figurines costing obscene amounts of money.

    Reimu obvoiusly just mugged someone for her Yukkuri.

    51000 Yen? That's around $550! Talk about a ripoff... more so if we remember that Sakuya's a tightwad.

    It's not atypical for cats/dogs to cost that much or more. It's a bargain for a pet that's also intelligent.

    For a certain value of perversion you mean? Gives an entire new meaning to giving head, and knowing some otaku/touhou fans... O_O;

    I would save up and buy one. Probably a Patchouli, Cirno or Chen one.

    In today's global economy, that Yukkuri is $547.74 now! That's effectively a 1% discount!

    You forget about their irregular jobs...one makes dolls for both the medical and toy sector while the other is, for all intents and purposes, Gensokyo's government.

    51000 yen for a single Yukkuri? Highway robbery, right there.
