That Mika is actually Alice's older sister. I believe the theory started on 4chan, and really picked up popularity with this official artwork.

So I think this comic is poking fun at that theory, since Mika's mother shown here is just Chiyo Shimada in a mask.

I was hoping the artist would make a daring choice like this.
