i think we should all relax about this. first of all it's seems more like a trick Kishimoto's playing here. cause for one his never really dared to take out anyone from the "younger generation" in the series. he's even revived Gaara from the dead let alone all of the grave injuries the other "rookie" characters have taken. i don't think he's going to start that off with Hinata.

if pein kills her i am going to step into the manga personally and kick his ass! (or at least i'm gonna try XD, might kinda mess up the computer screen though)

Don't dare to let her die! Seriously, leave it Mr Mangaka...
Did we even see what happened to Kakashi? I don't remember anymore, I ready that chapter so long ago. Did he actually die, or did they leave us hanging in suspense for that?
But yeah, please don't kill off Hinata. She finally confessed her love, and my favourite pairing in the manga actually has a chance!
did you read the chapter blacktroll?Naruto pretty much went berserk at what happened to her. he grew 6 tails immediately after it happened.
Warb said: I don't really want to crush anyone's hopes but, hinata's behaviour in this chapter is pretty mucha DEATHFLAG
i highly doubt it, death flag has other characteristics too, such as sudden detailed flashback and such. besides those Hyuuga's are made of some harder stuff than that, after all Neji survived when he was pierced by a huge arrow after all. not only that i've already stated it before that those rookies are rather untouchable in the story. if they were to start being killed off, then it would involve a much more significant look into the character and their situation.

i hate to say this but i think kishi's gonna start that of with hinata...
i doubt it. it's a rather anti-climatic way to end things with her. that and nothing of what happened to her was shown as well. it's to soon to make an snap judgments about her like this based on one chapter without any real evidence.
BlackTroll, it looks to me like you simply don't like Hinata. Favoritism is stupid. They wouldn't kill off the Genin 11 just yet. If they did, it would happen one by one. Besides,[/she was just gravity crushed.] I highly doubt that would be enough to kill her.

Gravity crushed into oblivion, and then stabbed with a giant "splursh" sound effect at the top(complete with globs of oozing blood on Pein's sword). Hinata is too gentle to be shown dying. I'm not going to say she's dead or not either way, but the possibility is there.
I haven't read the chapter, but I'd like to remind you that this is a shounen anime and, due to that, highly cliche. And one of the oldest cliches in all of existence is: If you don't see the corpse, and the person wasn't violently dismembered, they're not dead.
That doesn't make any sense. To prove you wrong: Jiraiya died with his body being fully intact (just stabbed, not violently dismembered) while sinking to the bottom of the sea/lake. The same goes for Asuma and his death scene. Btw, you do see Hinata's "corpse" in the very last frame of page 13 of this manga chapter.
Well, I was exaggerating, to depict my annoyance with how cliche the genre as a whole can be, but I meant that See the corpse and make it extremely evident that the person is dead. Falling over/bleeding doesn't mean anything. I don't trust characters in manga series to stay dead until it is explicitly spelled out in a way a 5 year old could understand.

Yeah, right AFTER the Shinra Tensei but BEFORE that stabbing sound script.
The reader doesn't see a glitch of how Pain finishes her off (either does Naruto I guess) - though she might have already been killed by that overkill jutsu.
In fact: This doesn't matter at all! Either if she's dead or not - how she died - how Pain killed her - how futile her actions were. Kishimoto only pulled this to let Naruto burst into six-tails. Killing off characters as mere plot device is nothing but bad story-telling - and this is why Naruto sucks since the timeskip.

They were also adults, mind you. Kishimoto's gone out of his way to NOT kill the rookies (even after giving them death scenes, as with Chouji and Neji!). Changing that now would just cement that Kishimoto hasn't had any idea what the fuck he's doing since Sasuke showed back up...
, it would probably be used as a way for Naruto to want to be with Sakura in a more close relationship because of a developed fear of losing her, or something like that.
But I'd much rather see Naruto and Hinata together, tbh. :\
No one seems to be sad about Shizune or Kakashi. Though I'm still not convince the latter is truely dead. And it seems to me Hinata will be just fin since Sakura's that and pain/pein is leading naruto out of the village
It pains me to say this, it really does... but Hinata said she loved Naruto and charged after Pein. That's like telling us "I'm going to die". I don't think she's dead. She's most likely dying and after a bunch of things happen, Naruto's going to talk to her before she dies about how sorry he is and she's gonna say "don't apologize... I'm just glad I could confess my feelings--" blah blah blah. It's always like that. >_<
For whatever reason, this whole chain of events w/Hinata reminds me a tad too much of Ryo turning into the Jabberwock after seeing his girlfriend apparently vaporized in a bunker buster blast in Project ARMs

Well...the first time Kishimoto used the killing off of his characters as a mere plot device was in the second season
You remember when Sasuke jumped infront of Naruto to save him from Haku. It was the very first time that Naruto turned badass on us and is engulfed in red chakra. But for an episode or three we all were led to believe that Sasuke was well and truely dead.
(too bad he didn't stay that way, annoying crybaby that he turned out to be.) So if you don't like the post-time skip Naruto episodes because of the characters being "killed off" then that means you never actually liked it to begin with, and have little reason to complain now that
Hinata has been "killed off"
.
and to all of you out there who don't know.... She is still alive!!! Kakashi too... after the destruction of the leaf, Pain uses some type of resurrection jutsu to bring everyone that died that day back to life.... so everyone is ok......
That was a while ago, and Hinata kind of fell by the wayside to the whole 'conquoring your inner demons' thing. Did she fall into a coma, and that's why we don't see her again? I mean, it's not like she's dead, so where is she? Naruto's just like "Oh really, I never knew that... oooh! look over there!"
