    That sounds way awful. And kind of sounds like a black company, though that is based on the standards I have from where I am from.

    Not only in Japan. Plenty of 'bad' companies provide you with 15+ days off per year, but more than half of it are used by national holidays, so it's a scam. You actually only get 5 or less days off per year, which can be worse with some companies keep hounding you on weekends.
