Okay, I really need some clarification about what's going on in this artist's images.
I honestly feel one really needs to know a lot about the media to get all the dialogues and some symbolism. I guess you may see Sayaka here as a dead end, one without a hope? As for the heart, one might interpret getting the soulgem as pretty much losing one.

My guess: Sayaka is trying to be a “hero of justice” but her ideals are corrupted by her imperfections. Madoka, as Sayaka’s friend, tries to follow Sayaka down this path without knowing what lies at the end but Homura stops her.
