I'm actually not sure if the artist commentary is a typo or a pun on this one.

In the comic, Nyaryl's UB is (transliterated) "Nya- Iya- Ba-suto", while in the artist commentary it says "Nyu- Iya- Ba-suto", which... might be a pun on "New Year"?

But it seems a few weeks late for such a joke, so I'm more willing to bet it's a typo. That's why I went with what I did for the actual commentary. Just... y'know, a footnote in case someone catches the discrepancy.

Okay, so this is gonna need some Priconne Game explaination. Kyaru's Union Burst, or special attack, is Grim/Abyss Burst, depending on if she's been fully uncapped or not. However, she has a New Years alt, and the UB of THAT form is, in fact, New Year's Burst. It is also the strongest attack in the game due to scaling.

New Year's Kyaru is at base value a fairly meh unit. A weak barrier, a moderately strong single target attack. Her Union Burst, however, gives her a magic attack buff based on how much damage it does. This results in dedicated NYaru teams being able to singlehandedly beat bosses that are supposed to take multiple runs and has forced Cygames to completely revamp how Clan raid bosses work. But TLDR yes, the New Years Burst pun was intentional.

Aha. And after all the vids I've been watching of Nyaru just wrecking bosses recently. I'm not sure why I didn't make the connection.

I still wonder why they went with one spelling in the actual comic and a different one in the commentary though...
