Bangs is carrying a coin purse, and one of the ducks has an empty basket, implying that they're going to buy something; whether groceries or other miscellaneous supplies, I can't say. Half Bang is carrying a basket with sealed envelopes, so they may be heading to the post office. Given that six of them are making this trip together, they're clearly going to need to carry a lot.
