No, that red thing on her chest is a mind-control device of Wesker's. You encounter them both at one point and you have to keep from harming her while she attacks, but stay clear of Wesker for a certain period of time. Later, he runs off and sicks her on you at which point you and your partner have to fight her in order to remove the mind-control thingy. When you do, she's all like, "Oh no, it was terrible! Thank you for saving me, but I'm feeling pretty shitty." So since she's weak, she asks you to go on without her.
