Uhh what? It's possible it's not a reference. She's just wearing a gi and padded gloves. It's a very common outfit to wear for things like taekwondo and such. The gloves are used in various fighting styles for training or in match fights.

Yeah; it's only Ryu when the gi's sleeves are torn off.
