I agree with both ideas, but in the end, I'm leaning more toward the Master Sword theory. And the fact that his shield is still present but that he's not wielding a sword (the sword possibly being the girl) leads me to support the idea.

yeah, I started to think something like that too, but the designs under he "cape" distracted me from it.
We know how the picori sword came to be, finding out more background for the MS would very interesting

Girl!Link, or at least an active female character teaming with Link sounds like good things to petition for
