isn't this the suit she uses when she goes into the volcano? It'd make sense she isn't wearing anything underneath... what science is under the transparent material, well, who knows... those are the parts that expand?
Anno pulled some new rule out of nowhere that NERV can't have more than three EVAs active at one time, and they throw away Touji's character and shut down 02 so Asuka becomes the 03 pilot. Everything after that is pretty much exactly like the series. <_<

WTF?! With changes like that, how could anything be the same? Aside from losing Rei, Touji is just about the biggest tragedy in Shinji's Eva career.
Anno just isn't a big fan of sensible storytelling, apparently.
It's like he's trying new things, but then instantly negating it by cutting and pasting everything else from the TV show. Why not ACTUALLY be original and just let EVA-03 and EVA-04, you know, NOT get possessed / destroyed at all?
There's apparently an interview floating around where Anno says the EVA-03 and Mari takeover thing wasn't his idea, so people are saying he shouldn't be blamed.
I call shenanigans. The guy is the chief director. Even if he didn't come up with the idea, he could have shot it down at any point he wanted.
I find it hilarious that just about everyone is throwing some huge hissy fit over all the changes in the new movie without actually seeing it. Ditching Toujis character? not really a big deal since it isn't like he was a large character in the TV series outside a single episode, the new girl? fine with me if they want to add someone new to help make the movies stand away from the original. Plug Suit? oh come on this is GAINAX, they invented the plug suit fetish, it's been over 10 years so making a really fanservicey one as a joke is hardly a surprise.
