I've never played Ōkami, and my brief research couldn't turn up a proper equivalent for "kemuramu" (the youkai that inhabit the Kamui region). Also, if any of the speakers have particular verbal tics/patterns, I'm unfamiliar with them.

Um, I think you mean Okami, Moonspeaker.

D'oh, so I did. I had "Kamui" on the brain from trying to find the English name for the youkai who live there. Fixed now.

The masked ones here are called the Oina in the English translation. Kemu was the name of their chieftain (the pudgy guy with the hanging belly in the last frame), if that means anything. Many of the names were "Westernized," notably the supporting character ウシワカ becoming just "Waka" in English. The Oina didn't have any tics in the English version either.
As a side note, I recommend playing it, especially on the PS2. The art and style is wonderful. The Wii version lacks a papyrus video filter that makes it look a bit crayola/technicolor, though. And the people porting it to the Wii literally lost track of the beautiful ending credits scene, which is an atrocity in and of itself.

I found the name of the Oina, but seeing how "kemuramu" is used in Japanese source material, Samickle seems to be referring to some enemy youkai, not other members of his tribe. Unless "Kemuramu" is Kemu's original name...? Why would he attack Samickle and/or steal his mask, then?

I know it's a great game, but I haven't had proper time to play anything on my PS2 in several years...

I can't read Japanese in the slightest yet, but perhaps it's more "Kemu, help me find/recover my mask from someone who attacked me in my sleep" than "How dare Kemu attack me in my sleep." That's what post #476347 leads me to believe.

No, the Japanese definitely indicates Samickle's accusing Kemuramu of attacking him in his sleep.
