Yuri does nothing but throw tantrums, whine and get angry at others thinking they have the right to kill people for their own selfish reasons when he does the same thing.

Yeah, and that's why he's better than the typical, "I CAN'T KILL PEOPLE, IT'S NOT RIIIIIIIIIGHT D:" tales main.

And that is why he is awesome.

Like some say, Yuri is a Western game character trapped inside a JRPG.

Most of the mains of the games that I've played don't really have a problem killing people and they can do it with out hiding behind justice.

But he isn't, he's the typical whiny selfish anime bitch who thinks he's better then everybody else needs to be slapped up side the head. Hell, they needed to kill off Don Whitehorse to try and make him seem like a stand up guy.

Eh, I think its a pretty good game. But really, I know this is the internet and all, but are you really getting anything from crucifying thos who hold a different opinon than yours?

I'm... really not seeing anyone crucifying anybody for having an opinion.

I do agree with him about leads in the Tales series not having any problems killing people. I know some often accuse Lloyd of doing this, but I can't really recall any time he did this, and I've played Symphonia over a bazillion times. He got preachy a lot of times and refused to kill Kratos when he was suicidal, sure, but never really had qualms with killing someone if it came down to it, and never did it in the name of justice either, mistranslated hi-ougi line aside. People tend to also forget that he killed Forcystus after he attacked Colette during the Iselia Ranch raid and no one batted an eye. Then again, no one really cared about that particular person in the first place.

Cless [granted it's been years since I played Phantasia], whoever the lead guy in Destiny was, Reid, and Senel never were "zomg killing people is teh bad" either. The only one that comes close is Luke at the beginning of Abyss when he had a nervous breakdown after killing someone in self-defense, but he eventually got over that. I still think that scene was really silly, even for someone like Luke at the time.

Never played Vesperia so I don't know how Yuri is so I'm going to take a wild guess and say that he's really not preachy like the other leads.

I kind of liked the fact that a sheltered boy was having problems killing people. Luke was a spoiled brat at times and a whiny brat on other occasions, but it made sense. Plus he eventually started to grow out of it. A trait hard found in JRPG characters. Luke is my favorite JRPG main protagonist because he had a personality and development that was off the beaten path.

Anyways, back on topic. Yuri was ok. He seemed pretty cool in the beginning but that started to wear off at about mid way through. That's why you ignore him and realize that Raven and Repede are the only real cool characters in that game.

Agreed on Luke. He was a breakdown waiting to happen for a wide variety of reasons, and they did a good job of showing him outgrow all of it.

I can't comment on ToV (haven't played it) so just pretend that I said something about Judith being cute in order to make this post remotely relevant to the picture.

Yuri, at least, recognized his own hypocrisy. That's why he pushed Flynn to stay on the moral high ground, and why he didn't hold a grudge against Sodia for trying to kill him.

It seems like you didn't play long enough to catch that, or are too obtuse to realize it. Or you're trolling.

Oh please, Flynn was never on the moral high ground. The moment that he said that he helped to hurt innocent people and while he knew it was wrong that he didn't care because Alexei was just so awesome. And on top of that he didn't have a change of heart until his back was to a wall making him an even bigger douche then he appear mid game.Plus, Yuri never recognized that he was a hypocrite because this game falls into the 'I fight for what I believe in. So I have justification to do what ever I want with out fear of reproductions for my selfish actions.' way of thinking seen in MGS4 and the later parts of Buso Renkin.

I have no idea why those spoiler tags didn't work in your post. It looks like you did them right, but it's not hiding the text. :/

Anyway, it's not like Yuri expected there to be "no repercussions" for his actions. He just wanted to run from the law and put off being punished until he could do what he needed to do. Events conspired otherwise.

And you clearly have no grasp at all of Flynn's character. What, did you just read a summary of characters given on a forum or imageboard?

Well, you're half right. I would say that Yuri's self belief that he is right in his own mind may not justify his reckless vigilante behavior. However, recall the scene where Sodia asks Yuri to help Flynn. Instead of calling her out for stabbing him, he doesn't. And when she asks why, he says "I'm a criminal...I can be killed at any time..." Which is saying that he admits that he willingly takes the wrong approach to solving problems, yet his intentions are good.

The line break did it. I think there's a bug in Trac about this already. If not, there should be.
