Never understood why Bremerton is so popular. Her design is pretty bad compared to a lot of other AL girls. There are much better characters that don't get a fraction of the fan art Bremerton gets.

I can promise you less than half of the artists that have drawn her even know what her personality is, if they even play the game, and that's a generous estimate. She gets lots of art because her tits are huge and because of her sports skin.

but among most players the reasons rizereymon listed are accurate. Fanart popularity and player popularity can be surprising (see Noshiro)

No. Not liking a character's design doesn't make make the design bad. Sorry your favorite Kansen doesn't get the same attention as others. Pretty sure everyone has that one character they feel is underappreciated by the fanbase. Not just this one but for basically most of them. But being popular means there's something about the design that appeals to folks. Most would say "big boobs lol" but considering that AL is FILLED with busty characters...

The question was about fan art however, where her personality, and what the players think of her, is irrelevant. She definitely doesn't have almost three times as much art as Enty for her personality.

Bremerton's are some of the biggest in the whole game, though. They are actually the size of her head.

Maybe, but I think it's more her combination of design elements, like her general vibe. Like you said, there's a chance the a portion of the people who draw probably never touch AL but still her with a very lustful personality because that's the vibe they got from her. From her expressions, from the pose she did in her first skin just screams "kinda slutty" rather then "nice and sociable"

I mean, I guess it wouldn't necessarily read as such, but more or less when I say, "She's got big tits" as why she's so much more popular than 99% of the cast, I'm really just saying she's got big sex appeal, not exactly that it's literally just her chest and nothing else.

I would not underestimate just how influential boobs are in general, though. There's a pattern in this list, and it's not personality. Bremerton isn't even the most popular large breasted character, though she does have the distinction of having two of her tags appear on the first page.

To be honest, I don't even know which ship Bremerton was based on when I first saw her and read her name. The real life Bremerton is such a forgettable and unremarkable ship with little service record unlike her sister ship, which is perhaps the reason why Manjuu has to make her more "attractive" by designing her with more risque clothing. Although they do give her a nice and sociable personality to match with her career as a training ship, most of the artist out there and many people who haven't even played the game will think of her at the first sight as a "generic slutty gyaru", which explains the huge amount of fanarts devoted too her.

I actually liked this skin, since it showed her "true" sides as a pretty likeable girl instead of how people viewed her as a "slutty big tiddy eye candy".

Oops I wasn't trying to downplay the effect big boobs have. I was just saying they are "probably" other reason why a Kansen is popular.

Fanart-wise, it's because of the tennis skin. Tennis outfits are already hot and the boob tent emphasizes it. She got a shitton of artwork from it.

That aside, her gyaru-ish vibe and an art style that emphasizes her thickness make her very attractive for artists. (Redheads are popular too)

As of this writing, it's odd that Global server's SNS had not announced her skin yet, even though the event is gonna start soon. (And Independence had already been announced)

It's only mentioned in patch notes, which where the "Day-Off Date" name came from.

Hard to say. Bremerton drew all the attention, somehow. Maybe it's the big boobs that made such a big tent in her sports skin?
(I'm more of a fan of Reno in her cheerleading outfit, myself.)

As much as I also like Baltimore (her squeals when special touched are also charming), none of her skins are on the flaunting side of things.

Since this seems to be the dedicated "complain about Bremerton" post, I have to say that my biggest complaint is how she's pretty much shoved Honolulu to the side (Zara doesn't help matters either). Honolulu was always my favorite of the busty ships because of her cute personality but it feels like her art has slowed to a trickle. At least irohara keeps drawing her.
