Given how bombastic a board personality the REAL Buront was, not too surprising. Still, it's a worrying trend. It's like a self-insert, but OTHER people are doing the inserting for you.

Worrying trend... you do know this shit is the exact same way old legends started right? This "trend" has been going on since people started talking about how kickass some guy they knew was and will never ever stop. People tell stories about people that stand out, some sillier then others.
Never mind that the entire "RAWR SI BAAAAD!" thing is rather silly IMO considering famous and well known authors have done it. It's bad when it's badly done, but it's not as a device inherently eeeeevil. Plus I acutally started reading this stuff having no idea the guy in it was acutally based on a real person... though having learned that fact acutally makes this stuff even funnier to me.
So I don't mind if this trend continues at all as long as it keeps producing laughs and decent artwork.
The problem with this is that the real Buront seems to be kind of a self-absorbed jackass (read the threads, hilarious, but he is one). If you've played MMORPGs long enough, you know the type -- players who believe their classes are the best, put down other classes for one-upping them after an update (which the Ninjas did in the tanking area), and that one item is THE BEST.
*shrugs* We'll just have to see, but this is more than, oh, for example, Meiling and Krizalid crack pairing.
I love how Reimu seems to like Buront but, like all good manga/fanart men, he is very thick-headed. Buront's just too lovable in these fanarts, we need to tone him down a bit. lol
